Marlene D. Bulas

The bright joyous paintings of Marlene Bulas are depicted in a wide range of styles and media. Much of her work is impressionistic - especially her landscapes, still life, floral and figurative paintings. Marlene also considers herself an experimental artist and has been exploring abstraction and intuitive paintings on paper and canvas as well. Love of colour and the painting process itself are the main focus of her art. Major influences on her paintings have been the French Impressionists, the Group of Seven, and various contemporary instructors in Canada and the USA.

About Marlene Bulas, Artist

"Creativity is a gift given to each of us and I have chosen painting as my form of expression. The joy and freedom of colour is the basis of my art, often combined in different styles and media, I am fascinated by the endless combinations and effects achieved by emphasizing and focusing on certain elements and principles of art and design. My art has become a metaphor of my own life's journey - exhilarating, unpredictable, and joyful - and it is my desire to share this experience with my viewer. I remain open in my choices of subjects as I believe in a Divine Spiritual Force that guides each of us enabling us to reach our own creative potential."

Marlene Bulas obtained her BA from York University in 1993 and has attended Georgian College Design and Visual Arts Program from 1996 - 1999, as well as numerous art workshops throughout Canada and the USA. A major influence on her work has been her mother who studied with the Group of Seven, as well as the encouragement of her husband and three children. Marlene has participated in various shows and has exhibited in Alliston, Barrie, Collingwood, Orillia, Penetanguishene, Toronto, Windsor, Buffalo, Westfied, New York, Florida, Calgary and Montreal. Paintings by Marlene Bulas can be found in private and corporate collections in Canada, U.S.A., UK, South America, Caribbean, France, Saudi Arabia, Panama and Bermuda.
